I’m Katie! A family fun content creator in Ontario.
My love for sharing all things fun started when we owned a Kids Play Centre back in 2019. It also happened to be where I worked for my first job back in 2006 and where we used to play as kids in the 90’s! My husband and I purchased it together 13 years later and were restoring the nostalgic feel. A year into ownership the Pandemic Hit and well… you know what happens next. The doors closed forever and here we are.
I started sharing fun places to go when my daughter was about 16 months old. Honestly it was a way for me to move through the loss we had experienced. The thought of going to play centres made me sad but I didn’t want to avoid them because they are such a fun part of childhood. So I thought, if I can share about our experiences, help showcase other small businesses in this space, and use it at a little therapy outlet for me, I can turn this totally devastating event in our lives into fun positive energy – so I did! Fast forward 2 years and I have an amazing social media presence with local followers who love to find new places to experience with their families.
I cover a lot of the GTA and East towards Kingston and my in-laws live in Collingwood, Ontario so we are blessed to have a place to stay to explore that region. My husband Kyle and I love to take roads trips (planned or spontaneous) and find new hidden gems. We started that tradition years ago when he looked at me one day and said “I think I am going to go to Myrtle Beach next week”. I looked at him knowing he was dead serious and said “ok, I guess I’ll clear my schedule!” And off we went… we still talk about the hilarious stories today from that trip. It was a disaster but SO fun! A few years later we randomly rented an RV and with no plans at all, we ended up in Alberta on a cross-country road trip! The places we saw and the music playlist on repeat are some of our favourite memories.
In 2021 we welcome our Miracle M. The girl who saved me and gave me a whole new life. She is the reason for my page, the inspiration behind The Durham Duck Hunt (that is a story for a different time) and the one thing that keeps me going. I love watching her enjoy new things and seeing life through her eyes. My ultimate goal is to give her the best experiences so she can hold onto those memories like I have from my childhood.
